THORESBY TAKE THE BATTLE OF WELFARES

Pre-Season Friendly
BLIDWORTH WELFARE FC 1 THORESBY CW FC 3

Always like going to see Blidworth as it is a very friendly club with good people involved. They have gone through a rough time of late on the pitch and deserve a little better, but it is always difficult to attract players when you arent paying money with so many other clubs in the area opening the wallets.
I was kindly offered a lift by friend Daz Wragg and on arrival was greeted by the Refreshment Cabin lady who I didnt know the name of till last night..it's Trish and she is lovely. Then a chat with Club Secretary Scott Ward.

Just before kick off, I was joined by Mr Clipstone Barry Clarke who had given a interview on BBC Radio Nottingham earlier in the day about his 40 years with his club and then old friend Richard Lane and his son Rikki.

We strolled down to pitch side and both sides cancelled each other out and we watched a goalless first half with very few chances. The Second Half kicked off and we had our first goal when the visitors took the lead on 55 minutes. As I was tweeting, Barry asked how it worked and he started making jokes about they would stop the bingo in Eastbourne to let the pensioners know the score!  Two goals in a minute after 66 minutes took Thoresby 3-0 up and Barry was in his element about the Eastbourne pensioners not being able to contain their excitement in the bingo hall. Ten minutes from time, Blidworth pulled back a goal from the spot
I would like to thank Blidworth Welfare who donated £20 and to Richard Lane who donated £10 to the Blogs Charity.
