SHIREBROOK TOWN FC 1 MICKLEOVER SPORTS FC 2

Langworth Road, the home of Shirebrook Town FC has gone under a extensive ground improvements programme during the close season, money well spent for all to enjoy and see what has happened when spending sponsorship money the right way.
On arrival, I was greeted by the Shirebrook committee and had a pint in the nice cosy clubhouse before venturing in to the ground.
The First half I stood on the near side of the ground, so not too far to walk for my cuppa and half time cheeseburger. Not a great deal of action in the first half as both sides seemed very well matched and cancelled each others moves, with very few chances..The only one worthy was a Mickleover move that saw the home keeper pushing a awkward shot over the bar.
The Second Half I strolled over to the other side of the ground and sat in the Sid Pepper Stand as my legs were beginning to hurt a little. Again both sides were missing that final touch and I thought I may just see my first goalless draw of the season, when on 77 minutes, the home keeper made a hash of a back pass and took too long on the ball to be robbed by the away centre forward to slot in to a empty net to give Mickleover the lead. Within 2 minutes, Shirebrook were back on level terms when awarded a free kick that took a slight deflection before resting in the bottom of the net to make it 1-1.
A stange incident on 80 minutes occured when a player from each side spoke to each other and the Mickleover player was subbed. Whilst being subbed he threw his shinpads in to the dugout with the home supporters jeering him, this seemed to make the home players look over at the away bench as he was then throwing his boots about in frustration. Whilst all this was going on, the ref had awarded Mickleover a free kick to which they had taken and the ball had ended up with the forward with just the home keeper to slot past for the winner.
