THE SNIPES JUST TOO STRONG AT THE LANE

Pre Season Friendly
SHERWOOD COLLIERY FC 2 SUTTON TOWN AFC 6
Admission £1 including progamme

Tonight I popped along to the closest ground on the Non League Pyramid, when I visited Debdale Lane ground the home of Sherwood Colliery FC.

A;ways a friend;y welcome at this club and they were newcomers to the CMFL North Division last season. Since my last visit, they have built a nice stand on the halfway line.

On arrival, I had a cool pint in the clubhouse before being greeted by Phil Kirkland, the club Chairman. Phil kindly gave me a Sherwood Colliery FC badge.

The crowd began to gather, so it was on to the pitch to take the homesters team photo before kick off.

The match kicked off at a frantic pace and the visitors were soon in front after just 3 minutes, but the celebrations didnt last long as the Wood were soon back level. With 7 minutes on the clock, Sutton had restored the lead and extended it to 4-1 by the interval.

At the break I walked down with Blidworth man Scott Ward for a half time drink, before going back to the half way line for the second half.

A few subs were made, with Sutton Manager Dean Short taking over in goal and him showing his ability at times as a juggler, but did well in only conceding once, whilst his side kept their minds on the job in hand adding another 2 goals to run out 6-2 victors.

Sherwood Colliery FC kindly donated £5 towards the blogs charity with many thanks.
