WHITFIELD SENDS THE MILLERS HOME POINTLESS

Central Midlands League
North Division
GLAPWELL FC 2 CLAY CROSS TOWN FC 1
Having to local as Sarah was down for Mothers Day to see Hazel, I decided last week to choose the local Derby between Glapwell FC and Clay Cross Town FC. On arrival maining the gate was Karen Hepworth who has kindly knitted and donated a special prize for the Notts League Groundhop coach of a Robin Hood for our coach charity raffle. Photo below. A BIG thankyou Karen!
Inside the ground I was greeted by her husband and son followed by friends and supporters of Clay Cross Town FC where Mr Terry Dance kindly donated towards the Blogs Charity..Many thanks go to Mr Dance.
To the game, a bit of a hustle and bustle first half with both sides shooting going well astray or out of the ground with neither keeper making a save, so at this stage, this game had 0-0 written all over it.
The half time talks must have been try and shoot on target and after 49 minutes, it was Glapwell who had a shot saved, the first in the game! From there the game seemed to open up and both sides went close with both keepers being bought in to the action a couple of times.
On 70 minutes, a Glapwell attack broke down and a pass up  to the half way line from the visiting defence put JAMES GOODISON clear with only the keeper to beat, to which he did to put Clay Cross Town 1-0 up.
The lead only lasted 3 minutes, as the ball bounced round the away penalty area before PETE HIBBARD fired home the equaliser.
The visitors looked stunned at this stage and on 74 minutes, Glapwell gained a throw in on the left hand side and made its way through to JAMES WHITFIELD who fired home the winner.
