KIMBERLEY LEISURE TO A DRAW

Notts Senior League
Senior Division
HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE FC 1 KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE FC 1

This match gained my attention with top of the League hosting Second in the table with not much ground between them. Just before arriving, it was a visit to the local chip shop as Hazel had made some sort of fish dish in her slow cooker and it wasnt to my taste, so armed with my sausage and chips I entered the ground and headed to see Roy for a cuppa and my matchday programme. A few hellos to folks from both clubs and I headed over to pitchside with Sheffield based and big Man City Fan Steve Reading and local referee Basil Goodly and we chattered away about both sides and how Barry used to play in the Cornwall area. Barry went off in search of League Ref Sec Darren Parkes and me and Steve was joined by Father Abraham himself the lovely Malc Storer who was my inspiretion to do this blog 3 years ago. He kindly made a donation towards the Blog's charity The Oaklands for Adults with Special Needs(that I went to a coffee morning on Tuesday). Malc does a excellent blog called On The Road, please click this LINK

The match was fairly even with not many chances made to note, but on 19 minutes, it was the visitors who took the lead through a breakaway goal when JAKE FISHER ran on to a loose ball and lobbed it over the approaching keeper. On 42 minutes, Rolls were awarded a free kick on the right side that was floated in and met by the glancing head of GREG CONN who made the scores level for half time.

Half time came and whilst getting a cuppa was met by League Chair Ian Kirk and League Ref Sec Daz Parkes and a couple of the leagues refs, we all expected a good second half, so as we ventured back to the half way line, I was greeted by Underwood Villa's Chairman Nigel Beer and his son who told me that the main pitch is being seeded at present and games when the pitch is fit enough are being played on the far pitch, not the pitch that ;last seasons hop was played on, also the new bar is now open. Back to the action on the field and well it was quite scrappy with a few mis timed tackles flying about causing Ref Mick Leslie to produce a few yellow cards.

Then came some sort of scuffle on the far side from the visiting bench with the scots manager being sent to behind the barriers and with 5 minutes to go, Rolls Kane Matthews received his second yellow card and was first at the bar.

Not much too separate the two teams tonight and looks a good run in for the league title with a couple of clubs just behind them that could join the mix perhaps.
