On arriving at the Stag Ground, the committee of Kimberley MW were running about with 2 opposite corner floodlits out and the match very much in doubt. With people arriving, I went in to the kitchen and chucked the kettle on and began to muck in and run the refreshments bar.
The home committee go the training lights on and both sides and the referee was happy that the match could go ahead.
The game began brightly for the visitors who cut out the first of several chances, the nearest flashed across the goal area and just past the far post, the homesters began to come more in to the game.
On 25 minutes, the ball was cleared out of the Magdala defence and fell to MARTIN LEECH on the halfway line and he lobbed it a full 40 yards over the keepers head to give Kimberley MW the lead. Maybe better than the Rooney goal of late!
The home side continued to press forward but couldnt add to their tally before half time.
The home side came out fired up and was straight on the attack and could well have scored 4 or 5 in the first 10 minutes of the half if it wasnt the fine form of the visiting keeper who pushed a shot on to the bar when driving at full stretch.
The Second goal had to come and it did after 65 minutes when the visitors failed to clear the ball out of their penalty area on 3 occassions and JAKE FISHER was at hand to smash the ball home to make it 2-0.
Anyone who thought this game was over was certainly wrong as Magdala had come here to play football and not give up and forced the home keeper in to some vital saves before in the 75th minute, the visiting number 7 smashed home a shot from the left side of the area to make it 2-1.
The final 15 minutes seemed to calm down and not many chances were created after this, so the Home club extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points.
