SANDHURST FC 1 AWSWORTH VILLA FC 3
Att: 37(Headcount)
Sandhurst FC went in to this match having lost at home to Wollaton FC on the Saturday whilst this was Awsworth's first game of the season. On arrival, I had a quick chat with the ref whilst he was waiting his 2 assistants. Then it was a hello from Mr Sandhurst Bob Crawford and Graham Scutt. I then got me programmes from Graham's lovely daughter Jade. Just before kick off, local hopper Pete arrived and we stood together during the match.
A very even start to the game saw both sides carving out the odd chance and Sandhurst FC being denied a penalty but the ref who was alot closer than me waved play on.
On 20 minutes, the visitors took the lead when a cross drive found the far corner of the net. 26 minutes on the clock and the homesters were level, when a turn and shot was fired in to the net. The scores didnt stay level for very long, as on the half hour came the goal of the game, when the Awsworth player got the ball around the half way line ran in to the Sandhurst half and let rip from 35 yards to leave the home keeper shocked as the ball floated over his head in to the net.
In to the Second Half and the first 20 minutes belonged to Sandhurst as they pushed forward and on the hour, they thought they had the equaliser but it was ruled offside. Awsworth then began to come back in to the game and they broke and made it 3-1 after 70 minutes. Both sides tried to add to their totals but the score remained the same at the final whistle.
